Frankfort, MI

Irene. Tied up in the harbor. Calm before big, big wind.
Can’t be the soaring mecca without wind!

We have been hunkered down in Frankfort for the past couple of days. The wind on Lake Michigan kept us here an extra night which means today we will go over 60 miles (an 8 hour travel day for us), to get to Ludington. The goal is to get to Chicago as soon as we safely can and to appreciate every moment along the way. In the meantime, David continues to troubleshoot generator issues and will likely seek a mechanic for Monday. The generator allows us to anchor out and keep our batteries charged and expands the possibilities of places we can stay, away from marinas. 🤞🏽

Sunset in Frankfort.

Frankfort Harbor is accessed through a sizable breakwater, up the Betsie River on Lake Betsie. It is the first place we have stayed that has big hills along the shoreline and even though we are heading south, we have had our coldest day yet; 52 degrees this morning. Its also dark in the morning now which always reminds us it is Fall 🎃 From our slip we can see the waves crashing over the outer wall.

I have a friend in my Spirit Led community, Carol Morgan, who hosted a conversation yesterday about the process of Breaking Free. As in, intentionally becoming congruent in how we live our lives. David and I were processing later, over dinner, and we conclude again that we are so incredibly blessed to be “here”. What a joy it is to create the life you want, by deciding in every now moment, to choose presence and appreciation for whatever comes our way. This world is a tough school, and there is a lot to learn! Living the life that you consciously create, is the best classroom. Our curriculum is nature, rest, good food, solitude, moving the body, moving the boat, meditation, and love.

Lake Michigan
may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that

Wishing y’all a wonderful day wherever you are 🌊

Godspeed dear ones! In the practice of being present to the life that’s here in this moment, your journey is chock full of precious teachings for the rest of us. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your beautiful articulations of the experience. 🙏❤️❤️❤️
